Wood Floor Planet is a gem for the local community, and Eddy, the owner, goes above and beyond to support local contractors. I saw how he did everything possible to help out a contractor that needed help with a small piece that very hard to get since it was too small. I saw the full interaction while visiting the store and was amazed how quickly he was able to think out of the box and give the customer a good idea.

Eddy Laboy's crew did a great job installing 2 1/4" wide solid oak flooring in 2 bedrooms in a NYC co-op apartment. We wanted to match the 15 year-old existing solid oak floors in the rest of the apartment. The attached photos show that they matched the existing stain color quite closely, as Eddy promised he could do. They also perfectly matched the height of the existing flooring (3/4 inch plywood base and 3/4 inch solid oak strips), as can be seen in the photos, so that no transition or threshold was needed where the existing hall floor met the newly installed bedroom floor. The goal was to make it look as though all of the flooring was installed at the same time, and they accomplished this as well as possible without having to sand and refinish the older flooring.

The apartment is vacant and for sale, and I live out of state, but Eddy was able to handle all the details of meeting with the realtor to get access for an estimate and providing the co-op management with the necessary contractor info. Eddy's estimate was extremely detailed, showing exactly what would be done and materials used, and his price seemed reasonable. It took us awhile to get approval from the co-op, but once we did, Eddy was able to schedule and complete the work promptly.

At my request, Eddy also arranged for a painting crew to paint the apartment during the same time the flooring work was proceeding. This allowed for less furniture moving during the combined job. I've only seen the results from photos, but I think the final product was all we could have hoped for.

I highly recommend Wood Floor Planet (WFP). After looking for months at wood samples and too many stores to mention we finally decided to purchase our flooring from WFP. We were extremely happy with their selection, quality of flooring, pricing and their customer service is next to none. Eddy was so patient with us as we had numerous questions being new to purchasing flooring. He was incredibly gracious and very accommodating as he let us take large samples home and never pressured us to buy while we were taking our time to make a decision.

We were using contractors for some other projects in our condo but ended up contacting Eddy to bid out and install the flooring as we had more confidence in his knowledge on proper installation and vast experience. His team was extremely professional and took great care of our furniture already in our unit by gently moving it around and covering it as they installed the floors. We were so thrilled to see our new floors when they were done as they did a beautiful job! We absolutely love our new floors! And I can’t speak more highly of Eddy. Wood Floor Planet is a business focussed around integrity and customer service. Eddy was an incredible pleasure to work with and was professional and kind from start to finish. I had an extremely small window of time to complete the project, and everything from the initial quote to the final product was completed with transparency and care.

For instance, I only had two short mornings in my schedule set aside for quotes, and Eddy made a special effort to see my apartment on Easter Friday as that was the only remaining day that worked for me. Of the four quotes I received, Wood Floor Planet was the only one that provided a precise breakdown of all labor costs and materials.

Eddy brought samples of the wood I was interested in to my apartment so I could get a better sense of what the wood looked like on site.

I also had special soundproofing requirements, and Eddy was flexible in adapting my design to the project. He spent time to research the materials I suggested to make sure there would be a positive result.

Finally, I was out of town for most of the project. While it was nerve-wracking to be away from my apartment while the work was being done, Eddy communicated consistently throughout the period and sent me photos at every stage of installation. He always addressed my concerns with clarity and patience.

I have worked with wood flooring businesses twice before, and this experience exceeded my expectations. The professionalism of Eddy and staff have raised the bar for others in the business. Thanks again for the wonderful job, and will post pictures soon.

Installation, sanding, and finish work went so well with this company. The 2 1/4 inch oak floors look great and when we needed additional things installed like sound proofing and waterproofing they were able to work with us to manage the changes to the scope.
